On September 12-14, 2018, Elżbieta Adamowicz and Konrad Walczyk from Research Institute on Economic Development and Michał Bernardelli, Bartosz Witkowski and Emilia Tomczyk from Institute of Econometrics participated in the 34th international CIRET conference in Rio de Janeiro -"Economic Tendency Surveys and Economic Policy (The use of Big Data in Economic Cycle Statistics and Research)" organized in Rio de Janeiro in cooperation with KOF and Getulio Vargas Foundation FGV. The conference was devoted to research on the economic situation, in particular, monitoring of economic activity in real time, forecasting changes in the economic situation and global business climate indicators. The research results of the main centers conducting research on the global economic situation have been presented. It was also discussed the use of big data technology to monitor and predict changes in the business climate.
